Erik Freeland is an American freelance photographer based in New York, NY. Working for over 15 years as a professional photographer, he has covered events from the troubles in Haiti and Iraq to French political elections.
After winning the College Photographer of the Year Award sponsored by Nikon and Photo District News, he was hired in Washington, DC, by US News and World Report magazine as a staff photographer. He left US News in 1997 to work freelance with the prestigious Saba Agency in New York City. There he worked for many of the major magazines including National Geographic Adventure, TIME, Newsweek, ESPN, New York magazine, Business Week, Forbes, SEED Magazine, etc.
He has moved back to New York after living in Paris where he covered Europe for major American and British magazines and newspapers. While he continues covering events for the major publications, he also photographs corporate events, weddings, travel and brochures.
